Genesis 21:19 is part of the story of a desperate Mother, one who didn't know how to raise a child by herself, yet felt there was no other way. She was despairing to the point of preparing to watch the child die of thirst. It was then that an angel came to speak to her with instructions from God who had heard the boy crying. Genesis 21:17
Then comes the part where God opens Hagar's eyes and she sees a well of water. I can imagine Hagar's surprise... "Now isn't this just one of those slap yourself moments? A whole well full of water, just sitting there! How could I have missed that??!! Could somebody draw me a map, puh-lease!" At this point, I just know she had to be glad she was alone, because witnesses would have been embarrassing.
Maybe she was overwhelmed with the sun and heat. And she was obviously quite emotionally distraught to have run away. There would be no government issue welfare check to raise this child. And, I know she wasn't looking forward to finding a job at the local camel wash drive through, which didn't even pay a living wage in those days.
You know what though? It didn't even matter to God... none of her shortcomings. He just stopped everything and handled the problem for her. She wouldn't be needing that map, after all, for God was behind the wheel. Kind of reminds you of the song, "Jesus Take the Wheel" by Carrie underwood, which all the sweet, innocent little five to eight year old girls like to sing so seriously, that makes you want to smile so wide, because you know they can't imagine the full meaning and desperation of those words.

You know though, less lives would be in shambles if little girls had God in the driver's seat at an earlier age. Somewhere down the line, we develop our own flight plan and forget to look at the Master plan God has for our lives.

"Oh, sure... I know there is someone who will come... one day. But, not here in my situation... not a right here Saviour." Jesus offered the woman at the well living water. She not only accepted the water, but she told everyone she met about this life changing experience. John 4:28-29
