shine upon us; Selah. That your way may be known upon earth, your saving health
among all nations. Let the people praise you, O God; let all the people praise
you. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for you shall judge the people
righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. Let the people praise
you, O God; let all the people praise you. Then shall the earth yield her
increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; and all
the ends of the earth shall fear him.
A surprising little Psalm that begins and ends with a blessing. But, it also contains mercy, salvation, health, God governing the Earth, and a bountiful harvest. So, what is left for God to bless us with? What is really important in this life? Strikingly, It is perhaps the children, family, friends, the people who fill us with the happiness a blessing denotes. All the other is just extra... a bonus. But, notice the requirement for the blessing? Praise is the prerequisite for blessings, praise from the people. This makes sense. If you praise God, then you will share in the blessings of God's people.
