Matthew 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom
of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
This verse speaks to me of those who are not content to accept what comes, but rather live their lives pursuing, chasing after the Divine. You can not truly be happy, unless you know what conditions would make you happy. No man ever won a race without first spying the finish line. It is when you plot your course, and run the race that you find yourself crossing the finish line, the final stretch. I don't know which I fear the most. Discontent or too much contentment.
Either way, it is easy to remember the beauty of heaven when you are absorbed in the pleasure of God's gifts of the love of family. I hope your holiday is sublimely peaceful and that you neither gain pounds from the feast, nor lose sleep from the fun. Impossible? I prefer to think of it as wishful thinking. :)
