Though I don't have an answer yet for the question above, I do have an answer for how to wait this turmoil out. The answer is found in the abused and often wrested Scriptures: Comfort for Affliction and Quickening (or Reviving) for Derision. I have a prescription for a broken spirit... a Soul's Rx. I will find comfort in God where it is to be found.
Let your mercies come also unto me, O LORD,
even your salvation,
according to your word.
So shall I have an answer for him that reproaches me:
for I trust in your word.
And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth;
for I have hoped in your judgments.
So shall I keep your law continually forever and ever.
And I will walk at liberty:
for I seek your precepts.
I will speak of your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.
And I will delight myself in your commandments, which I have loved.
My hands also will I lift up unto your commandments, which I have loved;
and I will meditate in your statutes.
Remember the word unto your servant,
upon which you have caused me to hope.
This is my comfort in my affliction: for your word has revived me. ('Revived' is 'quickened' in the KJV)
The proud have had me greatly in derision:
yet have I not turned from your law.
I remembered your judgments of old, O LORD;
and have comforted myself.
Horror has taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake your law.
Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.
I have remembered your name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept your law.
This I had, because I kept your precepts.
"In the house of my pilgrimage" above, David is referring to his fleshly body, for we travel this life in flesh, it is clear. This points out the fact that whether in comfort, or pain, or being torn down, or being raised up, I will praise God, and keep His Word. One thing is certain; nothing can be more solid! Proverbs 3:5 Even when reason fails, God is strong. While faith is weak, God is strong. Where hope languishes, God is strong. I am not afraid of anything. Get behind me Satan! Psalm 11:1 I'm running to the mountain of God's Word.
No fear in God's presence. No flight for the children of the King. We trust in His Word. We will not be moved by fear, because we know where our hope comes from. Our hope and comfort is in God - my soul's Rx!
