One of the factors analyzed in elementary school Speech class is the quantity of verbal speech. Is the verbal quantity equivalent to that of the child's peers? You have to take that into account when doing other measures. So, what I am getting at is the fact that verbal quantity differs for some of us.
Having been a teacher for 31 years, with 21 of those years in public school, I found that I often reached my verbal limit by the time the school day had ended. So, often I was too tired to speak when I got home from work. Mostly I enjoy listening. I like to hear people talk. I enjoy listening to podcasts and audio books, for example. "Have you received the Holy Spirit Since You Believed?" Texts: Acts 19:1-2 & Acts 2:38-39
It seems like we compartmentalize so much of our lives. Don't put God in a box, or up on a shelf. Don't just accept religion. Have Jesus in every part of your life!
She seemed to get quiet herself then, as I told her the verses. She listened and occasionally turned the conversation back towards what she was selling, but only in an obligatory way it seemed. But, she would listen when I continued. She mentioned that she had just lost a family member and she wasn't sure where to go to church, but she had thought about it since the funeral. Then, as we ended the conversation, she asked me again what book that was in, and I gave her the chapter and verse again. As she said goodbye, I could tell from the sound of her voice that she had needed to hear that very passage. I was surprised that I did this, because I am usually a shy, quiet person, and don't spend a lot of time talking on the phone. It just seems that sometimes the Spirit moves you to do things that you know are not in you, but you are in God.
As you go about your daily lives, remember that it doesn't matter how shy or how talkative you are... you have something to share. Tell your cable installer, your repairman, your coworker, your doctor, anyone you spend time talking to, about what God is doing in your life. You can even tell a telemarketer!
