"Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions."
Fact of the matter is, most inventions have great potential for good, with the "sharp" exception of say the guillotine. Computers, of all these inventions, seem to have the greatest potential for both good and evil, as demonstrated in the list above and in looking at the capabilities of your Smart Phone. But, in today's high-tech world, a whole new set of crimes are possible.
For instance, in the past millennium, child pornography was a problem among mostly adults. But, today our criminal justice system is having to lean how to handle preteens who have been charged with publishing and distribution of child porn. This is because children have cell phones, and often without supervision. Sometimes girls have taken pictures of themselves and texted the picture to a boy she knew at school. The boys in some of these cases have then texted the pic to all his friends, thinking it was a real hoot, only to find himself in court as a sexual offender. Here you may have a ten year old boy who will be on the state offender list for the rest of his life, simply because the technology was there and he misused it in an immature way. These things happen every day.
How do we live with a technology that has such power for good and evil? That is a question we have struggled with since Eve bit into the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. Precisely! God warned Adam & Eve right up front that they would die as the result of this knowledge. So, don't ask me to provide the answer, since even Google can't answer that question. Yet, ask Google if Google is God. Go ahead and click the link to ask. I will wait.
Now that you've done it, and now that you know the root and the fruit of invention, I'll tell you the name of the Preacher. That was Solomon in Ecclesiastes 7:29. But, you knew that didn't you? You already Googled it. :)
