I have noted before that fulfillment in the Bible sense often relates to death. The Bible refers to someone's days being fulfilled, or the fulfillment of a time or plan. In a larger sense, that is fulfillment of the whole of our life. But, we do spend our individual days looking for fulfillment on the short term. Thanks for reading my blogs, and checking out my websites. It does mean a lot that you are listening. I hope that we have made a connection in some small way.
Job 21:22-26 Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judges those that are on high. One dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet. His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow. And another dies in the bitterness of his soul, and never eats with pleasure. They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.
The first bold phrase refers to the breasts of the rich man's cattle. He has much substance. The second part of this phrase refers to his health. He is healthy in body. So, he is indeed a rich man. The other man mentioned is so sick he can't even enjoy his food and his soul has tasted the bitterness of pain. But, they are both laid side by side in the same graveyard. Both go down to the grave. And, who shall rise? Ironically, it has nothing to do with their riches or health, but to God, who is the judge. That is the fact that stands out in this passage. We all live, regardless of our divergent circumstances, and we all die and return to the same dust. Then, God will choose from among us.
Are you wholly ready?
